Well what a contrast to the weather conditions between our Compareaway offices in the USA and the UK. The girls in the UK are saying that they have had snow this weekend and that the drive into work was not too good. I had to point out to them that the weather in Florida had also dropped to 78 degrees today! It’s quite interesting as we are now seeing a surge in demand in the USA from the snowbirds coming down into Florida and renting holiday villas to get away from the cold and in the UK people are booking ski chalet holidays to get to the snow. Speed Boats in Sarasota
I got invited down to the Gulf Coast at the weekend where one of our new vacation villa owners kindly took me out on some motor boats that they were testing in Sarasota. The weather was great with it being just under ninety degrees which made for perfect weather to be out on a boat. Every time that I go down to that stretch of coastline I am amazed at just how beautiful the place is. There are just so many fantastic views and the properties go on mile after mile with stunning beach front villas.
A Golfing Blog
Hi, well here is the second of my blogs that I am writing for the guys at Compareaway. The weather in Florida has cooled down quite a bit but it’s still great for playing and practicing golf in. Free Vacation Rental Listings
Now that we have started to roll out our new service of allowing holiday villas and vacation rentals to list on our European and USA Compareaway site for free we are starting to see a good uptake of this great service. We are not actively marketing these free listings yet but word of mouth is driving traffic to our web sites and a handful of properties are being added each day. We hope that in twelve months time we will have at least another 30,000 private holiday homes on the site.
Trick or Treat?
Well the breaking travel news out of the CompareAway offices is that we have just tied up a major publishing deal and as a result are going to revolutionize the way holiday rental listing sites are run. We have worked hard over the last six months to pull the deal off and are very excited in the future growth of our stable of CompareAway holiday rental price comparison sites.
The Breakfast House
I’ve got to let you know about this great place I found for breakfast when staying in Sarasota last weekend. After having a disastrous night in a local hotel I decided that we would go out and try and find a small family run place that served breakfast and boy, did we hit the jackpot.
Who Would Stay In A Hotel?
Well I had an eventful weekend down in Sarasota seeing some friends and ended up staying the night in a hotel. What a disaster! Surprise, surprise on checking in the hotel was full and so I ended up having to pay full rate but when I asked for a room facing the sea I was suddenly offered quite a few rooms to choose from which kinda ruled out the full hotel bit.
Half Term Break
I was looking at a site the other day where the site users sent in funny pictures that they had taken during their holiday and thought that it might be a fun thing for us to add through our blog. So if you have any funny holiday photos that you would like adding, please send them in and we can start to show them on the blog. I’ll try and find some myself over the weekend to get the ball rolling on Monday.
New Apple iPhone 5
With the much anticipated launch of the new Apple iPhone 5 today at the ‘Let’s Talk Phone’ event the girls in the office were asking what is the advantage of a good phone to take on holiday. There is no doubt that the new iPhone 5 will certainly take the whole mobile phone concept into a completely new playing field. It must be a great gadget to take on a villa holiday with you as it is packed full of so many great features.
